Keeping your child safe in school, is our number one priority

All our staff at BCAP complete annual safeguarding training, alongside a range of safeguarding courses as part of their induction when they start with us. All staff have regular briefings which include passing on important information to our staff, to help them keep your child safe and enjoying school.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Nikki Fernandes. Nikki and the Headteachers are in charge of safeguarding as a whole across the BCAP site, but it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure children are kept safe. We do this by developing authentic relationships with young people and their families, and ensuring that children feel safe in disclosing information to staff.

We work closely with the local authority and other partner agencies (for example CAMHS, social care, police, looked after children team, etc) on safeguarding, and staff are kept up to date with the latest national and local training and local information from partner agencies.

If you ever feel that you child isn’t safe in school, might be getting in to trouble outside of school, or is suffering any kind of bullying, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the safeguarding team about it. We are here to help, and your child’s safety and wellbeing is incredibly important to us.
